Oldies but Goodies…

I appreciate all the kind comments today. I tend to be my own worst critic, so putting this up for the world to see isn’t the easiest thing for me to do.

Just for fun I thought I would post a couple pieces that I completed in the not-too-distant past. These are two of my favorite illustrations… particularily because of the concepts and the laughter that they bring when people see them.

The first piece was done as a contest entry for a Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators competition. I ended up getting an honorable mention with the piece (something which gave me a much needed ego boost about my work). Obviously this little guy is smarter than those bullies… I just love him.

This second piece was a fun little illustration I did to capture the imagination of a child playing. I’m not even sure what it was for now… I believe the prompt had something to do with rainbows. Many people have told me that this piece reminds them of when they were a kid. What a great compliment to an artist.

More to come soon!

I’ve had a couple art shows and some good feedback from a few illustration conferences I’ve been to… but nothing published just yet. I haven’t really submitted anything to publishers though. Hopefully once I get a few more pieces together I can send out some mailers and pick up some work.
