Several years ago I did a small illustration of a girl showing her giraffe puppet to a giraffe at the zoo. I always liked the concept but never really liked the finished piece. When this week’s Illustration Friday topic came up I knew that I wanted to revisit the idea. This sweet little image is the result. I will be working on the background this afternoon and will update the image once I am done.
Personally, I feel I got a little heavy handed with the outlining on this one. I’m not sure whether it is a good thing or a bad thing yet.
As always… constructive criticism always appreciated!
I actually like the outline here. The illustration is very geometric, and the outline compliments the style. Lol, and I love that giraffe’s expression on the right. Great composition, too.
Very cool! I agree… the outlining works here. Really nice job Andi!
Another thumbs-up on the outlining. It does work very well with your style, the warm colors and the paper color. Beautiful…from another colored pencil artist!
Love the expressions! Another great piece of work, can’t wait to see what you are going to do to the background too..
I like it… and the outlining works for me. Now I will have to check out your other work and see if you got heavy handed
I wouldn’t have noticed the outlines until I read your comment, and it works for me! I love the expressions the most – the girl is so sweet and the other giraffe carrying the big guy is funny! Love it!
I love your work. The expression on the giraffe’s face is priceless. I didn’t even notice the outlining but then I’m a writer and not an artist.
